Ghaziabad: A 39-year-old man who was diagnosed with a kidney infection five months ago took his wife on a long drive on Monday night. The man shot his wife dead before turning the gun towards himself, said the police.
The bodies of the two – Vinod Chaudhary (39) and his wife Deepak (36) – were discovered near their white S-cross in Madhuban Bapudham on Tuesday morning. Both bodies had bullet wounds in their heads while a gun lay near Vinod’s hand.
Vinod, originally from Roorkee, left his private job at a firm a few years ago and earned his income from farmland in his village. Police revealed that the couple had two kids – a son and a daughter both in their teens.
Kunwar Gyananjay Singh, DCP, said Vinod and Deepak left home around 10:30 pm, informing others in the family that they were going out for a drive. When they did not return home by 2 am, a relative called the police helpline.
A police team tried tracing the two; however, they failed. Around 7 am on Tuesday, a passerby informed the police of having spotted a couple lying dead outside their car near a de-addiction center in Madhuban Bapudham. The family members were informed, and the bodies were sent for autopsy.
Quoting his family members, police mentioned that Vinod had been suffering from depression for the past few months and had tried to jump to his death in the Ganga canal. “We are investigating the case from every angle. So far, we haven’t come across any rivalry with anyone,” Srivastava said.
