New Delhi: Four men were caught attacking a man with a knife and shooting him in a busy bylane of northeast Delhi’s Shastri Park last evening on CCTV cameras, the police said. The accused have been charged with attempted murder, they added.

CCTV footage from the area showed the crammed bylane suddenly turning into complete chaos with locals running away when the incident took place. Within seconds, the bylane was deserted except for the four accused present in the lane- Bilal, Saud, Firoj, and Salim who chased the 25-year-old Sameer Ahmed, the victim, and stabbed him with a knife.

A few men were witnessed trying to intervene in the situation but were shooed away while one of them was slapped by the accused. As Ahmed lies on the ground in front of the grocery store, the shopkeeper is seen preparing to close the shutters in the footage. One of the accused then rode off on his scooter while the others followed him on foot.

The incident was notified to the police by the locals who complained of the firings in the nearby area where police found the victim lying in front of the store with injuries on both his legs. He was rushed to the nearest hospital, from where he was referred to GTB Hospital and then to RML.

According to police, the victim and his friends (accused) were drinking together when Sameer Ahmed allegedly bit Bilal. This led Bilal and his three friends to attack and shoot Sameer, they further added. All four of the accused are on the run, and a manhunt has been launched to arrest them.
