Police stated on Friday that a 16-year-old child was suspected of killing a 19-year-old male on Thursday night by stabbing him to death in the Welcome area of northeast Delhi. The suspect was detained following the incident.

Investigators stated that the murder resulted from an incident between the accused and the deceased. They also stated that the victim’s pals were allegedly making fun of the 16-year-old, calling him “mental,” and beating him up when he objected to their actions.

The victim has been identified as Mohammad Shoaib, a Welcome resident who lives at Photo Chowk, according to Deputy Commissioner of Police (North-Eastern), Joy Tirkey. He resided with his family. The boy accused resides in the nearby Janta Mazdoor Colony in Welcome.

The police report states that at 10:04 p.m., a call regarding a stabbing that occurred close to a park that borders the neighborhood of Imambada was received by the Welcome police station. According to Tirkey, “Shoaib was rushed to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where he was declared dead on arrival.”

Also, witnesses reported to police that a brawl preceded the murder. The boy retaliated against their actions and voiced his objection to the mockery. The boy was then beaten up by the victim and two of his buddies. The knife used in the murder was taken from the juvenile when he was apprehended in the early hours of Friday, DCP added.

According to the officials, the boy’s interrogation disclosed the events leading up to his murder. “Since Monday, the boy had been pursuing retribution.” He approached Shoaib alone in the park on Thursday night while armed with a knife. Following a physical altercation, the child fatally stabbed Shoaib with a knife. The authorities are reportedly searching for Shoaib’s companions who allegedly beat him up, which supports the boy’s account.
