Once more, BTS has become entangled in the current drug case in the Korean entertainment business. In response to rumours that members of BTS, including Lee Sun Kyun and BIGBANG’s G-Dragon, were regular visitors to places where drugs were allegedly used, their agency, HYBE, has released a new statement. G-Dragon and Lee Sun Kyun are both facing separate drug-related allegations.
The rumors started when a recent video from the YouTube channel Garo Sero Institute stated that two BTS members frequently visited the location. The drug cases involving G-Dragon and Lee Sun Kyun are rumored to include the purported hostess bar.
The representative for BTS refuted any connection between BTS members and the purported institution in question. “The rumors that are circulating about our artist and a specific location are not true at all,” their statement said, according to Soompi. The BTS members have never been to the aforementioned institution and are unaware of it. We have a zero-tolerance stance against the propagation of lies and the defamation of our artist’s reputation, and we are pursuing both civil and criminal legal action in response,” the statement continued. “We have already begun taking legal action against groundless falsehoods about our artist,” it further stated.
The agency for BTS has made it clear that the group is unrelated to any current drug incident. “BTS is completely unconnected to the relevant rumour, and the rumour is not true in the slightest,” they have added, threatening legal action against bogus news. “We’re going to take serious action against the spread of rumours without purpose.”
Lee Sun Kyun, meanwhile, recently made an appearance before the police for an investigation. He apparently took a drug test, and the results were negative. There will apparently be more testing done.
Koreaboo quoted the actor as stating, “I have complied with all requests for the next official investigation, and I have turned in my cellphone today. For the upcoming investigation, they indicated they would call me shortly, and I will politely take their call. I sincerely apologize to everyone I have been relying on for assistance.” However, in a prior formal declaration, G-Dragon denied using drugs.
