Maleesa Marie Mooney, a pregnant Los Angeles model, was discovered battered with her wrists and ankles bound inside a refrigerator, according to an autopsy report that has come to light. The Los Angeles County Department of Medical Examiner performed the most recent autopsy. According to PEOPLE, “homicidal violence” is the official cause of death. Her body also exhibited blunt force damage, as revealed by the autopsy. Toxicology testing detected traces of alcohol and cocaine in her system.

On September 12, the 31-year-old’s body was found inside her apartment’s refrigerator in downtown Los Angeles. The last time Maleesa was captured on camera at her residence was on September 6. On September 12, when her mother requested a welfare check, officials visited her apartment.

The medical examiner noted in the autopsy report that “the blunt force traumatic injuries observed at autopsy are generally not considered acutely life-threatening on their own.” “However, based on the circumstances of how Ms. Mooney was found, these injuries suggest she was likely involved in a violent physical altercation prior to her death.” The study continued, stating that it is “uncertain” what role alcohol or narcotics played in her tragic demise.

Regarding the murder, no one has been taken into custody. According to Jourdin Pauline, Maleesa’s sister, the model was two months pregnant. “I know she really wanted a child, and she has always talked about it,” Jourdin, 24, remarked, adding that Maleesa’s partner was “heartbroken.” “She was super excited,” Jourdin said in a recent Instagram post.

Jourdin recalled the first visit to Maleesa’s apartment with her family, saying, “It was honestly so chilling. That is something I have never experienced before. The refrigerator was gone, and sections of the carpet were torn up. Everything that occurred that evening was traumatizing and terrifying. I am aware of her extreme fear. I simply hate thinking about it.

When iPhone text chats with Maleesa turned from blue to green, indicating that Wi-Fi and data services had changed, Maleesa’s family began to suspect something was amiss. “We just felt something wasn’t right after a week had passed,” Bailey Babb, her cousin, told KTLA. “We all have a unique connection, so when her texts stopped arriving, we realized there was a problem.”
