Warner Bros. has released the first trailer of Barry Levinson-directed much-awaited mob drama The Alto Knights, starring Robert De Niro in a dual role of two rival Italian-American crime bosses.

Fans were thrilled when Warner Bros. released the trailer on its official social media channels, giving a glimpse of the film’s intense narrative. Originally titled Wise Guys, the film is based on the volatile power dynamics between two notorious criminals in mid-20th century New York.

Written by Goodfellas’ Oscar-nominated screenwriter Nicholas Pileggi, The Alto Knights tells the story of Vito Genovese (played by Robert De Niro) and Frank Costello (played by Robert De Niro). These two titans of organised crime led separate crime families and were embroiled in a historic conflict that included a 1957 assassination attempt by Genovese on Costello. The incident led to Costello stepping away from the crime world after surviving the attack.

The project marks a notable reunion between Levinson and De Niro, who have previously collaborated on acclaimed works such as the Emmy-nominated HBO film The Wizard of Lies, in which De Niro played Bernie Madoff. The pair also worked together on What Just Happened, Wag the Dog, and Sleepers.

Along with De Niro, the star-studded cast includes Debra Messing, Cosmo Jarvis, and Kathryn Narducci. The film is produced by Oscar-winning producer Irwin Winkler, along with Levinson, Jason Sosnoff, Charles Winkler, and David Winkler. Mike Drake serves as executive producer.

Alto Knights is set to hit theatres on March 21, offering audiences a gripping portrayal of mob history and power struggles. Fans have been eagerly awaiting this cinematic bonanza, which promises a compelling narrative and top-notch performances.
