A woman and her two relatives have been booked under the POCSO Act for allegedly filing a false gang rape case against two individuals in Jhansi, Uttar Pradesh, according to police.
Jhansi SSP Rajesh S. informed that all three have been charged under Section 22 of the POCSO Act for filing a fake case. The police reported that a family had lodged a complaint alleging that the woman was gang-raped in a moving white car. However, after questioning the accused in custody, the investigation revealed a different narrative.
“The family had claimed gang rape, and the police detained the accused for interrogation. But the investigation uncovered a completely different story. Initially, the victim stated she was kidnapped by two men in a white car. To verify this, the police reviewed CCTV footage near her residence. No white car was found, but the victim was seen alone,” said Jhansi SSP Rajesh S. Speaking to the media, SSP Rajesh S. further explained, “After reviewing footage from 50-60 cameras, we discovered that the girl wandered around the city and later entered the fort.”
The police later confirmed that the girl confessed to fabricating the entire story. “The girl admitted that the whole story was made up to implicate two individuals,” said the Jhansi SSP. SSP Rajesh S. also revealed that the girl’s aunt and her son were involved in the scheme. “Her aunt and cousin assisted her in the plan,” the SSP added. He further mentioned that the girl intended to elope and marry a boy, for which she had purchased jewelry. She waited for the boy at the fort, but when he failed to show up, she returned to her aunt’s house. (ANI)
