PM Narendra Modi arrived in Brunei Darussalam on Tuesday, marking the first-ever bilateral visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country.

During his visit, the Prime Minister will hold discussions with Brunei’s top leadership to explore ways to enhance bilateral relations. Prior to his departure, Modi stated, “Today, I am embarking on the first-ever bilateral visit to Brunei Darussalam. As we celebrate 40 years of diplomatic relations, I look forward to meeting His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other esteemed members of the Royal Family to elevate our historical relationship to new heights.”

The Ministry of External Affairs highlighted that the visit aims to strengthen India’s cooperation with Brunei across various sectors, including defense, trade and investment, energy, space technology, health, capacity building, culture, and people-to-people exchanges, while also exploring opportunities in new areas.
