The Supreme Court granted bail to Delhi Chief Minister Kejriwal, who had been in custody since March 21.
On Friday, the Congress stated that the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal is “just bail” and not a “clean chit.” “It’s just bail for now; no clean chit has been given. The Congress party sees this as merely a step in the judicial process, nothing more. There hasn’t been any mention of acquittal from the charges, and the final verdict is still pending,” Congress spokesperson Alok Sharma told PTI.
This statement from the Congress leader followed the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leader Arvind Kejriwal, who had been in jail since March 21 in connection with a corruption case filed by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) related to the alleged Delhi liquor scam. While granting him bail in the Enforcement Directorate (ED) case, the court ruled that Kejriwal could not visit his office or the Delhi Secretariat and could not sign any official files unless it was necessary to obtain the Lieutenant Governor’s approval.
Several opposition leaders welcomed the Supreme Court’s decision to grant bail to Kejriwal. “Congratulations to him. Coming out of jail is only possible through the court. This was a betrayal of the people of Baramulla, who were told they could bring anyone out by voting. No one is released through votes; it is only done through the court,” said Omar Abdullah, Vice President of the National Conference.
