In a shocking incident that has sent shockwaves through Delhi, a boy allegedly suffered sexual abuse at the hands of another boy in a private home shelter in the northwest Delhi locality of Jahangirpuri, said police officials on Sunday.

According to a police official, a PCR call was made regarding child sexual assault at a private home shelter in Delhi. According to the sources, a report was filed under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act and Section 377 of the Indian Penal Code, which deals with “unnatural offenses.”

The incident allegedly came to the attention of the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) on Saturday.

The official reported that the suspect has been detained, and further investigation is underway. Since his mother’s death and his father’s remarriage, the survivor has been residing in the shelter home for the past few years. He claims that on August 31, while he was using the toilet in the evening, an older boy who lived there sexually abused him. He also said that he told the manager about the incident, but he did not take any action on it.

A notice has been sent to the Delhi Police by DCW requesting a copy of the FIR filed and information regarding whether the manager and other employees of the shelter home have been held accountable for failing to report the occurrence to the authorities in accordance with the POCSO Act.

The Delhi Police have also been given notice by the Delhi Commission of Women (DCW) to file an action report by September 6.
