After facing intense backlash, the controversial episode of India’s Got Latent, featuring Samay Raina, YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, social media influencer Apoorva Mukhija, and Ashish Chanchlani, has been removed from YouTube. Originally available exclusively to members, the episode is now inaccessible in India. The video went viral on Monday, sparking outrage over Ranveer’s insensitive comments about parents. This led to multiple complaints and an FIR filed against Ranveer, Samay, Apoorva, and the show’s producers.
According to The Indian Express, the controversial segment was initially edited out after Ranveer issued a public apology on social media, requesting the show’s makers to take down the episode. It has now been confirmed that YouTube has removed the entire episode. Kanchan Gupta, Senior Advisor at the Ministry of Information & Broadcasting, announced on X, “The India’s Got Latent episode on @YouTube with obscene and perverse comments by Ranveer Allahbadia has been blocked following the Government of India’s orders.”
The controversy erupted after Ranveer, in a members-only episode, asked a contestant, “Would you rather watch your parents have sex every day for the rest of your life or join in once and stop it forever?” The remark was widely condemned as vulgar by social media users. The episode also featured creators like Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija on the judging panel.
Following the uproar, an FIR was filed against Ranveer for his remarks. Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis commented on the issue, stating that freedom of expression has its boundaries. Additionally, the All India Cine Workers Association (AICWA) released a statement demanding strict action against the creators and an immediate ban on the show. Despite Ranveer’s public apology, criticism continues to pour in.
