- Desire for Lavish Shopping: The young woman, Sonali Awasthi, allegedly plotted the theft to buy designer clothes, cosmetics, mobile phones, and footwear.
- Giving Away Keys and Details: Sonali shared duplicate keys and details about the jewellery with her friends and kept them updated on her family’s whereabouts to facilitate the theft.
- Mother’s Suspicion: Sonali’s mother, Asha Awasthi, overheard her daughter’s phone conversations, grew suspicious, and reported the matter to the police.
Arrests and Action
- Four Women Arrested: Sonali and her three friends—Muskan Prajapati, Suman Kumari, and Himanshi Kumari—were arrested under Section 380 (house theft) of BNS.
- Judicial Custody: All four accused, aged between 20 and 21, were sent to judicial custody.
