Indore: A 28-year-old woman has been arrested for extorting ₹24 lakh from a 61-year-old man by secretly filming intimate videos of him and threatening to make them public, according to police.
Kanadia police station in-charge Saharsh Yadav said the victim, Madan Singh from Bicholi Mardana village, approached authorities after enduring nearly two years of harassment.
As per the complaint filed on May 22, Singh stated that the woman was employed at a grocery store operated by his tenant, Vineet Jain. She gradually built a rapport with Singh through friendly conversations, eventually gaining his trust. In December 2022, she persuaded him to accompany her on a trip to Ujjain. They travelled in his car and stayed at a hotel, where she secretly recorded intimate footage of them.
She later used these recordings to blackmail Singh, repeatedly threatening to release them online if he didn’t pay up. Out of fear and shame, Singh paid her around ₹24 lakh over the span of two years. Exhausted by the ongoing demands, he finally sought police intervention.
Yadav confirmed that during the investigation, the woman admitted to the extortion. She was arrested on Friday, and police froze ₹19 lakh from her bank account.
Further investigation revealed she had previously filed a rape case against another man at the same police station, which she later withdrew in court. That case remains under scrutiny.
