A woman in Bareilly, Uttar Pradesh, has been arrested and placed in judicial custody after police uncovered that she faked her own abduction, gang rape, and shooting in a scheme to falsely frame a local public representative and his son.
To lend credibility to her claims, she conspired with an unregistered doctor from Sanjaynagar and a staff member at the district hospital to surgically implant a bullet in her chest. To make the injury appear like a gunshot wound, they burnt the area with a hot coin to conceal the surgical incision.
The alleged incident took place on the night of March 30, when the woman was found near Gandhi Udyan in critical condition, claiming she had been shot. She was rushed to the hospital. The following day, her niece lodged an FIR at the Kotwali police station, alleging that five men had abducted her in a black car, gang-raped her, robbed her of her jewellery, shot her, and left her near the park.
However, discrepancies emerged during the investigation. Medical reports indicated the bullet had not been fired but was surgically inserted, with a clear surgical cut visible near the wound. Additionally, CCTV footage from that night showed the woman travelling alone in an auto-rickshaw, contradicting her abduction claim.
Upon being confronted with the evidence, the woman confessed to staging the entire event in order to frame the public representative, whom she had previously blackmailed. Police have arrested the woman, the doctor, and the hospital employee involved in the plot. All three are now in custody, and legal proceedings are ongoing.
SP City Manush Parik confirmed the arrests, stating, “The woman fabricated her kidnapping, and, during the investigation, the truth came out. She admitted to orchestrating the plan with the help of a doctor and hospital employee. All three have been taken into custody. The entire story was proven false.”
