In Agra, police have arrested a woman for allegedly murdering her 9-year-old nephew by electrocution. The boy’s body was found in the bathroom on the terrace of their home in the Prem Nagar area of Jagdishpura. According to authorities, the accused, Gajna, confessed to the crime, revealing she was driven by jealousy over her husband’s affection for the child.
The victim, Aarav Singh, went missing on Saturday afternoon, and his body was discovered by his cousin Vishal in the terrace bathroom on Sunday. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Aarav was declared dead on arrival. Following the family’s complaint, police initiated an investigation, which led to Gajna, the wife of Aarav’s uncle, Veer Singh.
During interrogation, Gajna reportedly admitted her jealousy stemmed from her husband’s frequent financial and emotional attention toward Aarav. Her frustration was compounded by her inability to have children and unresolved disputes with her husband over the issue.
A postmortem confirmed electrocution as the cause of death. ACP Mayank Tiwari stated, “The investigation revealed the boy was murdered by his aunt. The accused has been arrested and will be presented in court.”
Neighbours shed light on the family’s dynamics, noting that Aarav’s father, Ramesh Singh, and his brother, Veer Singh, lived on the first floor with Gajna. Locals described a close bond between the brothers but noted Gajna’s frequent irritation toward Aarav, particularly her disapproval of the attention her husband gave the child.
