Lucknow: A 45-year-old woman was arrested on Friday for allegedly forging documents to claim her husband’s provident fund and gratuity money.
The fraud came to light when her stepson filed an RTI query with BSNL, where his father had retired as a DGM.
According to the police, the woman forged signatures in the service book after her husband’s death in 2017.
The RTI response revealed that she had taken 100% of the nominee amount by falsifying signatures.
“The father had designated 50% of the nominee amount to his son from his first wife and the other 50% to his second wife,” the police explained.
