- Background: The IT professional, a 40-year-old man living in Kandivali West with his wife and son, was in a long-term physical relationship with the woman since 2012. The relationship soured in 2022 when she asked him to marry her, and he refused.
- Rape Case and Extortion: In 2023, the woman filed a rape case against the man at the Borivali police station. He was arrested and spent a month in jail. Later, the woman demanded ₹1 crore to withdraw the complaint, which she later lowered to ₹50 lakh when he refused.
- Digital Snooping: Police discovered the woman had unauthorized access to the man’s Google account, tracking his bank details, OTPs, and possibly passwords with help from a bank employee.

- Charges: An FIR was registered against the woman, her brother, her friend, and a bank employee under sections including extortion and violation of privacy laws.
