Wife, Lover & Kill: Merchant Navy Officer, Hide Body in Drum in Meerut

Meerut: A 35-year-old merchant navy officer, Saurabh Rajput, was murdered by his estranged wife, Muskan Rastogi, and her lover, Sahil Shukla alias Mohit, just days after he returned from London to celebrate her birthday. The crime took place on March 4 in Meerut’s Brahmpuri area.
According to police, the duo brutally killed Saurabh, dismembered his body, and stuffed the parts into a drum filled with cement to speed up decomposition. His decomposed body was recovered nearly 15 days later from his rented apartment after neighbours complained of a foul smell.
SP City Ayush Vikram Singh stated, “We received information about a stench coming from the house. Upon inspection, we found the body chopped into pieces and sealed inside a water drum filled with cement. Both accused have been arrested and charged with murder and destruction of evidence. They will be presented in court on Wednesday.”
Investigations revealed that Muskan and Saurabh had been married since 2016 against their families’ wishes and lived separately with their six-year-old daughter. After the murder, Muskan and Sahil went on a trip to the hills while she kept misleading Saurabh’s family by texting them from his phone to avoid suspicion. She continued to ignore their repeated requests for a phone call with him.
The crime came to light when police recovered Saurabh’s remains. Both Muskan and Sahil have been booked for murder and tampering with evidence.
