For the first time since his cancer diagnosis, British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak and King Charles III had a weekly in-person audience at Buckingham Palace.
For the first time since disclosing his cancer diagnosis, King Charles III met British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak in person on Wednesday for their weekly audience, according to UK television outlets.
The 75-year-old monarch attended a church service at his rural home of Sandringham in eastern England on Sunday, which led to the meeting at Buckingham Palace.
The monarch seemed cheerful as he resigned after Sunak said that “it’s all done by mirrors” and that he looked good.
We are all with you. The entire nation is rooting for you, Sunak declared.
“I’ve received a ton of amazing cards and notes. Most of the time, it has made me cry,” Charles remarked.
The monarch revealed his cancer diagnosis on February 5, and shortly after that departed his residence at Buckingham Palace in London to receive treatment at Sandringham.
He was receiving treatment for a benign enlarged prostate when a “separate issue of concern was noted” and looked into. This led to the determination of the diagnosis.
His mother, Queen Elizabeth II, aged 96, passed away on September 8, 2022, just 17 months into his reign, at which point he received his diagnosis.
