The parents of the victim have informed the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) that they suspect some of the interns and physicians from the hospital to be involved in the crime. They have provided the CBI with the names of the individuals they firmly believe are responsible for their daughter’s murder.

The parents have expressed suspicions regarding the involvement of multiple individuals in the sexual assault and murder of their daughter. A CBI officer revealed that the parents provided the names of several interns and doctors associated with their daughter at RG Kar Hospital.

“We have identified at least 30 individuals we will call in for questioning. We have already commenced the questioning process, giving it the highest priority,” stated the central agency officer.

The grief-stricken father of the deceased doctor recounted that he vividly remembered the morning when his daughter left for work at 8:10 am. The victim was headed to the OPD for her shift. The last time she spoke to her mother was around 11:15 pm the previous night. The next morning, when his wife tried calling their daughter, the phone rang incessantly, but it went unanswered. Little did they know that their daughter had already passed away by then.

The doctor’s father also added, “During the specified on-call period, it is concerning that the doctor’s services were not required from 3 am to 10 am. In the wake of my daughter’s passing, I have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support. Moreover, my daughter experienced significant challenges during her time in college, leading to widespread suspicion within the department. I unequivocally support the ongoing protests and have taken the initiative to engage in discussions with CBI officials.”

The CBI summoned a hospital staff member and two trainees who were on duty the night of the murder. Dr. Ghosh had expressed safety concerns, and his lawyer sought protection from the Calcutta High Court.

As part of the investigation, CBI officers conducted a crime scene reconstruction and 3D tracking at the hospital’s seminar hall.
