The United Nations General Assembly serves as a platform to address various global issues and concerns. It appears that the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Venezuela, Yvan Gil, plans to deliver a speech during the 78th session of the United Nations General Assembly. His speech is expected to focus on denouncing sanctions imposed by the United Nations on Venezuela.

The actions taken by one country or a group of countries to pressure or influence another country include economic sanctions, trade restrictions, asset freezes, and other forms of punitive measures. The UN General Assembly provides an opportunity for countries to raise their concerns on the international stage, seek support from the international community, and advocate for their positions on various global issues.

Yvan Gil had a busy schedule of meetings with various international authorities and international organizations. He delivered a speech at the SDG Summit where he reiterated Venezuela’s commitments and emphasized the need for solutions and support—multidimensional, concrete, immediate, and inclusive—with the ultimate goal of “leaving no one behind.”

Gil held a meeting with Sergei Lavrov, the Foreign Minister of Russia, on Wednesday. During this meeting, both ministers reaffirmed the friendly relations between Venezuela and Russia. Both ministers stated that social networks continued to be important allies on multilateral stages like the United Nations General Assembly.

Sergei Lavrov praised Venezuela for its proactive role in regional affairs, its contributions to the processes in the American continent, and its efforts to promote closer ties between Latin America and the Eurasian Union.

It included discussions on sustainable development, strengthening alliances, and promoting Venezuela’s role on the international stage.
