A heart-wrenching story has emerged from the devastating floods in Uttarkashi’s Harsil Valley, Uttarakhand. A Nepalese migrant laborer, Vijay Singh, had a tense two-minute phone conversation with his son before losing contact. The son, who was among a group of laborers in the Harsil Valley, was inconsolable and helpless as he uttered his final words: “Papa, we won’t survive, there’s a lot of water in the drain.”
