Uttar Pradesh Woman Accused of Pushing Husband Off Roof During Argument; Claims He Jumped

A 40-year-old man named Dilshad died after allegedly being pushed off the roof by his wife, Shanno, during a heated argument at their home in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday night, officials reported. The altercation reportedly began when Dilshad, upon returning home, asked Shanno for food, leading to a dispute.
According to Dilshad’s family, Shanno pushed him off the roof during the quarrel. He was rushed to a nearby hospital but was declared dead upon arrival.
The victim’s sister, Saima Bano, claimed that Shanno disliked her brother and frequently argued with him. “We saw her push him. She never liked our brother and often fought with him,” she alleged.
Dilshad’s mother, Qureesha Bano, who lives in the same residential complex, stated that the couple had ongoing arguments over Shanno spending long hours talking to someone else. “They fought daily. She even left the house a few times, but my son always brought her back. She used to beat him too… She’s the reason my son is no more,” she said.
Shanno has denied all the accusations, asserting that her husband jumped off the roof. She claimed Dilshad was an alcoholic and frequently returned home drunk. “Yesterday, too, he came home drunk and jumped. My mother-in-law is falsely blaming me,” she said. The couple had been married for eight years.
“If I tolerated this for eight years, why would I do something like this now?” Shanno questioned.
Following a complaint by Dilshad’s family, police have taken Shanno into custody. “The man fell from the roof during an argument with his wife. His body is in the mortuary. We have detained the wife and initiated an investigation,” said Additional Superintendent of Police Akhand Pratap Singh.
