US Extends $360 Million in Military Arms Support to Taiwan Amid Chinese Aggression

The United States of America has approved military arms sales support worth $360 million to Taiwan. These arms include drones and missiles.
This decision comes as Taiwan, a territory claimed by China, is unable to defend itself against Beijing’s aggression. Despite lacking formal diplomatic ties, the US is committed to helping Taiwan.
China has continuously claimed that Taiwan is part of its territory, a claim that Taiwan has always denied. Beijing is willing to cross all boundaries to bring Taiwan under its control and has increased threats and pressure on the territory. This includes staging war games around the island since Lai Ching-te was elected as the new president of Taiwan.
The arms sales include Switchblade 300 anti-personnel and anti-armor munitions and related equipment worth $60.2 million, and ALTIUS 600M-V drones and related equipment costing nearly $300 million. Loitering munitions are small guided missiles that can fly around a targeted area until directed to attack.
Taiwan’s defense ministry has expressed its gratitude to the US for the arms support.
These US arms will enhance Taiwan’s ability to detect and strike enemy threats promptly, improving the security of the recipient and helping to maintain political stability, military balance, and economic progress in the region.
Hopefully, this support will deter the People’s Liberation Army from continuing its military operations around Taiwan and contribute to regional stability.
