Shamli: A 20-year-old woman, Bhuriya Singh, was arrested on charges of murdering her 50-year-old father, Satyawan Singh, a month ago due to disagreements over his plans to sell their ancestral three-bigha land. Police reported that Satyawan was found dead outside his home on October 15, initially believed to have died naturally. However, his 70-year-old mother raised suspicions, suggesting he may have been strangled. Following a postmortem that confirmed death by strangulation, police registered a murder case and began a new investigation.
During questioning, Bhuriya’s responses were inconsistent, and she eventually confessed, admitting she strangled her father with a scarf, citing his mistreatment toward her because she opposed the land sale. Shamli SP Ramsevak Gautam stated that Bhuriya was arrested two days ago and has since been jailed.
