Pragati Yadav, with the assistance of her lover and a contract killer, orchestrated her husband’s murder in Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district merely two weeks after their wedding.
Even as the shocking details of a man’s brutal murder by his wife and her lover in Meerut continue to stun the nation, another disturbing incident has emerged from Uttar Pradesh’s Mainpuri district. In this case, a woman allegedly teamed up with her boyfriend and a contract killer to murder her husband just two weeks after their wedding.
According to the police, Pragati Yadav had been in a relationship with Anurag Yadav from her village for four years. However, her family forced her to marry 22-year-old Dilip Yadav on March 5, 2025. Unhappy with the marriage and eager to reunite with her lover, Pragati and Anurag planned Dilip’s murder. Pragati claimed Dilip was wealthy and promised Anurag a better life after his death. She handed over ₹1 lakh to Anurag to arrange the killing. Anurag then hired a contract killer, Ramji Nagar, for ₹2 lakh to execute the plan.
On March 19, while Dilip was returning from Kannauj district after completing some work, he stopped near the Patna Canal at a roadside hotel. Two men on motorcycles approached him, pretending their vehicle was stuck and asked for help, luring him onto their bike.
Soon after, Dilip was brutally beaten and shot, with his body abandoned in a wheat field. Locals discovered him severely injured and alerted the police. Despite being rushed to the hospital, Dilip succumbed to his injuries after three days of treatment. The incident came to light when police scanned nearby CCTV footage, which captured Dilip being taken away on a motorcycle. This breakthrough led to the identification of Ramji Nagar. Based on the evidence, police arrested both Ramji and Anurag.
During interrogation, the duo confessed to their involvement and named Pragati as the mastermind. A search also led to the recovery of country-made pistols and live cartridges. Pragati was later arrested.
A senior police official informed India Today TV that all three accused were produced in court and sent to jail. Further investigation is ongoing.
