Meerut: Three men from Greater Noida were arrested on Monday for allegedly shooting and killing a 65-year-old farmer, Lekhraj Singh, in a road rage incident in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh.

Singh, a resident of Fareedpur village in Sikandrabad, was riding pillion on a bike driven by his nephew, Shiv Kumar, when the attack occurred. According to Sikandrabad SHO Anil Kumar Shahi, the shooting was triggered after Kumar overtook a car carrying four men. One of the occupants, angered by the maneuver, fired at Singh, striking him in the back. The assailants fled but were later identified through CCTV footage.

The arrested suspects—Vijay Kumar, Indrajit Singh, and Colonel Singh—are residents of Ecotech-I, Greater Noida. They were reportedly returning from a wedding at the time of the incident.

An FIR has been filed under BNS Section 307 (attempt to murder) and Sections 3/25 of the Arms Act. SHO Shahi revealed that the firearm used in the crime belonged to Colonel Singh, who already has four criminal cases registered against him in Bulandshahr and Gautam Buddh Nagar.

Authorities have launched a manhunt for the fourth suspect. Meanwhile, the weapon and vehicle used in the crime have been seized.

Singh’s son, Tini Bhati, expressed his grief, stating, “My father had gone to Sikandrabad on February 27 and while returning around 9 PM, he was shot. Passersby rushed him to the hospital, but he succumbed before we could reach. Today, we learned that the accused have been arrested.”
