UP: Muzaffarnagar Woman Raped, Killed by Brother-in-law, Wanted to Marry Her

A 21-year-old woman in Muzaffarnagar, Uttar Pradesh, was allegedly raped and murdered by her elder sister’s husband and two others, who later set her body on fire to eliminate evidence, police reported on Saturday. According to officials, the main accused, identified as Ashish, had been pressuring the woman to marry him, as quoted by news agency PTI. The crime occurred in Bavana village in the Budhana area, with the victim’s family filing a missing person complaint on January 23.
Authorities stated that Ashish and his accomplices lured the woman from her home, gang-raped her, and strangled her to death. They then allegedly burnt her body in an effort to destroy any evidence.
Following his arrest, Ashish confessed to the crime, an official confirmed. The victim’s charred remains were recovered, and forensic analysis is underway.
A case has been registered against the accused, and efforts are ongoing to apprehend the two remaining suspects. Officials assured that strict action would be taken, and further investigations are in progress.
