A loco pilot in Uttar Pradesh has accused his wife and brother-in-law of threatening to kill him, warning that he would suffer the same fate as the victim in the recent Meerut murder case — where a man’s body was dismembered and sealed in a drum, police said on Sunday.

The complainant, Sumit Kumar, a senior assistant loco pilot with the Railways and a native of Gaya, Bihar, alleged that his wife was eyeing his job and plotted to kill him. In his statement to the police, he claimed to have overheard a conversation between his wife and her brother discussing plans for his murder. When he confronted her, she allegedly threatened that they would kill him just like in the Meerut case. Sumit also accused the two of physically assaulting him.

The Meerut case, cited by Sumit, involved a woman and her lover who murdered her husband, chopped up his body, and sealed it in a cement-filled drum earlier this March.

Based on Sumit’s complaint filed on Saturday, police have registered a case and launched an investigation, said the SHO.
