The All India Congress party has shown a much better response in Uttar Pradesh during the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. The party officials in this state on June 9 asked that Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, the previous chief of Uttar Pradesh, take up the mantle once more and spearhead the venerable party’s comeback in the state.

Party leaders in the state said that the All India Congress and INDIA bloc’s success in the 2024 election was a result of the organisation that Ms. Vadra rebuilt during the Assembly elections in 2022. They further claimed that her purposeful attention to the lower OBC and Dalit populations paid off handsomely. They also mentioned that it was the ideal moment for her to assume this kind of duty. In the 2024 elections, the Congress secured victory in its pocket boroughs of Rae Bareli and Amethi, in addition to Saharanpur, Sitapur, Allahabad, and Barabanki.

The Congress leaders also cited Ms. Vadra’s concentrated, over-ten-day campaign in Rae Bareli and Amethi, attributing the victories in both seats to her “hard work”. The praises of senior politicians in the All India Congress are often echoed by several other politicians. Mr. Alam regarding this said he collaborated with the group “Priyanka ji” assembled in these seats. He added that the All India Congress received 3,90,030 votes in Rae Bareli and 1,67,196 votes in Amethi because of her diplomatic and wise ideas. Mr. Alam further continued, “It indicates that people in U.P. are excited for her to lead the party.”

After winning 21 seats in the state in the 2009 elections, the historic party’s result in the 2024 Lok Sabha poll in Uttar Pradesh was its best to date.
