In a heart-wrenching incident that unfolded in Lucknow, a seven-year-old girl, Dhwani Awasthi, was trapped in the lift and prayed to God for her safety while repeatedly calling for her mother. Despite her efforts to manually open the lift, she remained trapped for 20 minutes until the lift automatically opened on the 20th floor. The entire incident was captured on the CCTV camera installed in the lift and has since gone viral on the internet.

The incident took place at approximately 1 p.m. on Wednesday when Dhwani Awasthi entered the lift to reach her floor in B-Block, where she resides on the 11th floor. When contacted, LDA Chief Engineer AK Singh claimed to be unaware of the matter and suggested that it may be a technical fault. He later attributed the frequent power outages and fluctuations in the building to the elevator’s tendency to get stuck.

Such incidents can leave a lasting impact on an individual’s psyche, often requiring psychological sessions to cope with the trauma. The experience can lead to claustrophobia or a fear of being trapped in an elevator indefinitely. Manini Srivastava, an associate professor in the Department of Psychology at Lucknow University, warns of the potential for PTSD (Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder) in the seven-year-old victim.

While officials continue to shift blame, it is crucial to consider the emotional and psychological impact on the young girl and take appropriate measures to address her trauma.
