In the 11th ODI of the 2023 World Cup in Chennai, New Zealand maintained their undefeated streak with a convincing eight-wicket victory over Bangladesh on a Friday. The Kiwis successfully chased down a target of 246 runs, finishing at 248/2 in 42.5 overs. The match-winning performance was led by Daryl Mitchell, who scored an unbeaten 89 runs off 67 balls. However, there was a setback when Kane Williamson had to retire hurt after a well-fought innings of 78 runs off 107 balls.
Bangladesh’s innings began with a gritty half-century from Mushfiqur Rahim, which helped them set a competitive total of 245/9 in their allotted 50 overs. Rahim showcased his skills as a wicketkeeper-batsman by scoring 66 runs off 75 balls, including six fours and two sixes. Shakib Al Hasan contributed with a solid 40 off 51 balls, featuring three fours and two sixes, while Mahmudullah provided a strong finish with an unbeaten 41 runs off 49 balls, including two fours and two sixes.
New Zealand’s bowling attack was spearheaded by Lockie Ferguson, who claimed a three-wicket haul, while Trent Boult and Matt Henry each secured two dismissals.
