In Mumbai, two women were arrested on Saturday after evading capture for 10 months. According to Powai police, Misbah alias Zeba Ateeq Khan and Rehma Mir Khan were wanted for assaulting officers who had come to their home to apprehend suspects involved in attempted murder, extortion, and drug trafficking. Police reported that the two women were among a group of five who confronted the team on January 29, following a tip-off to constable Kavita Laad about Ameen Khan, a suspect in serious criminal cases.

A Powai police officer explained that when the team arrived to search the house, Khan’s wife, Shabana, became hostile, physically and verbally confronting officers attempting to enter. Despite efforts to calm her, she continued to act aggressively. While officers were handling the situation, they received word that Mubarak Momin Khan, a drug dealer, was also inside.

Upon spotting the police, Momin Khan tried to flee. As officers pursued him, Shabana renewed her assault, calling four women from the area to join in. The group, including Madina Sayyed and Zeba, attacked the officers, with Zeba causing constable Laad to fall. Despite their efforts to block the arrest, the officers detained Momin using necessary force, creating tension in the neighborhood and raising public order concerns. Although three of the women were initially arrested, Zeba and Rehma managed to escape. On Saturday, police received information about the duo’s return to their Powai home, leading to their arrest.
