In an attempt to create a coalition government at the Centre led by party president Shehbaz Sharif, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz met with smaller parties on Wednesday.

The PML-N representatives met with the Muttahida Qaumi Movement-Pakistan (MQM-P), Balochistan Awami Party (BAP), Istekam-e-Pakistan Party (IPP), and Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam Fazl (JUI-F) to finalize plans for the coalition government after reaching a power-sharing agreement with the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP).

According to a statement released by the PML-N, senior leaders from both parties attended the meetings conducted in Islamabad. These leaders included Kamran Tessori, Mustafa Kamal, and Dr. Farooq Sattar from the MQM-P and Ishaq Dar, Ayaz Sadiq, Azam Nazir Tarar, and Muhammad Ahmed Khan from the PML-N.

The PML-N and MQM-P decided to work together within the government system, according to an article in the Express Tribune daily. The accord emphasizes a dedication to promoting peacemaking and collaboration, emphasizing the improvement of political, democratic, and economic stability throughout the country.

The need for a fair allocation of resources and authority was at the center of their conversations, setting the stage for future debates on important subjects like the defense of urban rights in Sindh, especially in Karachi, and the restoration of the port city’s economic prominence.

According to a second statement, the coordination committees of the BAP and PML-N met simultaneously and reaffirmed their commitment to tackling the issues facing the federation and Balochistan.

Both parties’ representatives, including those from the PML-N, Azam Nazir Tarar, Ayaz Sadiq, Malik Ahmad Khan, and BAP’s Khalid Magsi, Sadiq Sanjrani, and Kauda Babar, reaffirmed their commitment to putting in place strong democratic administrations at the federal and local levels.

Aleem Khan, the president of the IPP, attended a meeting between the leaders of the PML-N and IPP in Islamabad, with Ishaq Dar leading the PML-N delegation.

In a separate statement, Khan promised the PML-N his complete and utter support both at the federal and provincial levels.

Separately, representatives from the JUI-F and PML-N convened to discuss the formation of a provincial government in Balochistan.

Sources claim that when JUI-F asked for help in forming a government, the PML-N declined, claiming that it had already made an agreement with the PPP to establish a coalition government in Balochistan.

But in a joint statement, the PML-N and the JUI-F emphasized the need for cooperative efforts to ensure Balochistan’s prosperity and reaffirmed their commitment to working together to achieve this common objective.

The MQM-P and BAP have already vowed to back the PML-N coalition government led by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif. Nevertheless, the JUI-F declined to join the federal government.
