The Praises and The Criticism Of The Union Budget 2024-25
Leader of the TDP and Union Minister of Civil Aviation, Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, praised the Union Budget. Noting that important funding for the Polavaram Project and the development of Andhra Pradesh had been allocated. After the Budget, he told reporters in the Parliament House complex that the Polavaram project is a lifeline for the people of the State.
The Union Budget has been referred to as a “dream budget” for all citizens by Union Minister of Parliamentary Affairs Kiren Rijiju. Speaking to reporters today within the Parliament House complex, Mr. Rijiju stated, that the budget is growth-oriented and targets all facets of society. He said, “that Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman had made statements to expand the availability of financial services in the Northeast.”
Rijiju claimed that this would support financial inclusion in the states of the Northeast. The Minister added that it is historic that three crore homes would be constructed nationwide as part of the PM Awas Yojana. Mr. Rijiju criticised the opposition, stating that they were unhappy because this budget was excellent for the people.
Renowned BJP leader Ravi Shankar Prasad praised the Union Budget, pointing out that significant announcements were made to boost job prospects in the nation. The BJP’s Ravi Kishan stated that since Gorakhpur is prone to flooding, the provisions included in the Bihar budget, namely those pertaining to flooding, will also benefit the region. JDU leader and Union Minister Rajiv Ranjan Singh praised the budget. He claimed that a variety of Bihar packages, including those for tourism and infrastructure development, are included in the budget.
The Criticism That Follows
The budget has drawn criticism from Congress, which claims it is inadequate and ignores income inequality. Party MP Shashi Tharoor stated, “that the Budget likewise makes no mention of MGNREGA in an interview with the media outside of Parliament.” On the other hand, Mr. Tharoor praised the Budget’s removal of the angel tax.
Akhilesh Yadav, the leader of the Samajwadi Party, also attacked the Union Budget, claiming it does not deal with the problems of unemployment and inflation. He claimed that there is nothing substantial in the Budget for farmers. He continued by saying that the populace would not gain until the problems of the farmers were addressed and youth employment was secured.
Priyanka Chaturvedi, the head of the Shiv Sena (UBT), questioned the Union Budget, claiming it contained no clear plans for Maharashtra. Additionally, she claimed that the budget does not do much for farmers and does not address their problems, such as MSP and debts. TMC’s Kalyan Banerjee and DMK leader T R Baalu both voiced criticism of the budget.
