According to police reports, a student in Class 9 of a private school in Haryana purportedly committed suicide by hanging himself after being subjected to bullying by two of his classmates. The incident occurred on Saturday, as reported. The family of the deceased, a 14-year-old boy, has claimed that the 9-year-old was distressed due to repeated bullying by two female students. The police officials have stated that the teachers are also responsible for neglecting the matter, despite it being brought to the attention of a teacher earlier.
A case has been registered against the two classmates and the school teacher under sections 305 (abetment of suicide committed by a child) and Section 34 (a criminal act done by several persons in furtherance of the common intention of all) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) at the City Police Station here, based on a complaint filed by the boy’s mother.
The investigating officer has confirmed that the teenager’s mother was not present on the day of the incident, and it was his grandfather who discovered his body. Local Station House Officer Kuldeep Singh said, “Investigations are ongoing in the matter” as quoted by news agency PTI.
