The BRS MLA Pocharam Srinivas Reddy Switching to All India Congress

The Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) MLA from Banswada, Pocharam Srinivas Reddy, was invited to join the party during a visit to his home by Telangana Chief Minister A. Revanth Reddy and his cabinet colleague Ponguleti Srinivasa Reddy.
Later, MLA Srinivas Reddy told reporters that he had accepted the offer to become a member of the All India Congress. He praised the pro-farmer policies and claimed to have closely monitored the developments since Mr. Revanth Reddy became Chief Minister. Srinivas Reddy stated that he opted to join the Congress because he is from a farming family. Naturally, he understands the government’s devotion to the cause.
Mr. Srinivas Reddy, who served as Agriculture Minister from 2014 to 2018 and Speaker of the BRS government from 2018 to 2023, gave various reasons for his decision to join the Congress. He said that he had left the Telugu Desam Party (TDP) to join the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS, currently BRS) for a variety of reasons. He emphasized that he was going back to his original profession as a congressman.
Political History of Srinivas Reddy
One of Telangana’s most prominent politicians, Mr. Srinivas Reddy, began his political career in 1976 with the Congress and joined the TDP in 1984. He managed the portfolios of Mines and Geology, and subsequently Panchayat Raj, while serving as a Cabinet Minister in the combined Andhra Pradesh administration led by Chandrababu Naidu.
At the height of the Telangana movement in 2011, he resigned as a TDP MLA and joined the TRS. He was elected in 1994, 1999, 2009, 2014, 2018, and 2023 from the Banswada Constituency.
