Thank You For Coming, Laapataa Ladies to premiere at TIFF
Thank You For Coming starring Bhumi Pednekar and Laapataa Ladies directed by Kiran Rao to have world premiere at 48th Toronto International Film Festival
“Laapataa Ladies,” directed by Kiran Rao, and “Thank You For Coming,” starring Bhumi Pednekar, are set to have their world premiere at the 48th Toronto International Film Festival 2023, scheduled to take place from September 7 to 17. “Laapataa Ladies” will be screened as a part of the Centrepiece Programme (formerly known as Contemporary World Cinema), while “Thank You For Coming” is set to premiere under the Gala section.
The festival organizers announced this exciting news on their official website last Thursday. Kiran Rao is returning to TIFF after her directorial debut, “Dhobi Ghat,” which had its world premiere at the film extravaganza in 2010.
Producer Rhea Kapoor took to Instagram to share a “Thank You For Coming” poster and announced its selection for the Toronto International Film Festival. She expressed her joy by saying, “With tears of joy and excitement, we are honored to present our film, #ThankYouForComing, as an official selection at the Toronto International Film Festival 2023!! Join us at our gala premiere! #ThankYouForComingAtTIFF.” Rhea also shared two more film posters and added, “Let the celebrations begin! See you in Toronto (!!!!!!!!!) #ThankYouForComingAtTIFF #ThankYouForComing.”
Directed by Rhea Kapoor’s husband, Karan Boolani, and written by Radhika Anand and Prashasti Singh, “Thank You For Coming” also features Pradhuman Singh Mall, Natasha Rastogi, Gautmik, Sushant Divgikar, Saloni Daini, Dolly Ahluwalia, and Karan Kundrra. The film includes a special appearance by Anil Kapoor. It is produced by Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms Limited and Anil Kapoor Film Communication Network Pvt Ltd.
In addition to these two films, other Indian cinematic offerings set to premiere at TIFF this year include “Punjab ’95,” “Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,” “Kill,” “Sthal,” and “Dear Jassi.” “Thank You for Coming” is scheduled for theatrical release on October 6.
