Thane Horror: Mother Poisons Three Minor Daughters to Death Amid Domestic Issues

A heart-wrenching incident has shaken the residents of Thane district in Maharashtra. A 27-year-old mother, Sandhya Sandeep Bere, has been arrested for allegedly poisoning her three minor daughters to death due to distress over domestic issues.
The Incident
Sandhya, a housewife from Asnoli village under the Shahapur area, reportedly mixed pesticide into a traditional rice and lentil dish, varan bhat, and served it to her daughters aged 5, 8, and 10 on July 20. After consuming the meal, the girls began vomiting and experiencing dizziness. Medical teams rushed them to a local hospital. Doctors later transferred two patients to a Mumbai hospital, where they succumbed to their injuries on July 24 and July 25.The third child died on July 24 at a hospital in Nashik.
Investigation and Arrest
Initially, a case of accidental death was registered at the Khinavli Police Station. However, postmortem reports revealed the presence of poison in the children’s bodies, prompting the police to register a murder case against Sandhya. She was arrested on Sunday, around 2 a.m.
Domestic Issues
According to the police, Sandhya had been facing serious domestic issues, including alleged alcohol abuse by her husband. She had separated from him and was struggling to raise her daughters on her own, which may have driven her to commit the crime. Her in-laws had raised suspicions about her involvement in the deaths, leading the police to detain her for questioning.
Further Investigation
The police are conducting further investigation into the matter. Sandhya’s arrest followed the confirmation of poison in the autopsy reports. The authorities are working to uncover the circumstances surrounding the tragic incident.
