Terrorist Attack on Indian Air Force Convoy in Poonch Claims One Life: Security Forces Launch Massive Search Operation
Security forces conducted a search operation this morning in response to a terrorist attack on an Indian Air Force (IAF) convoy in Poonch on May 4, resulting in the loss of one personnel’s life. Additional Indian Army forces arrived at Jarra Wali Gali (JWG) in Poonch late on Saturday night.
The attack in Sanai village led to injuries, with one personnel succumbing to injuries and others swiftly transported to the Command Hospital in Udhampur. Following the attack, a cordon and search operation was launched by the local Rashtriya Rifles unit with support from the Army and police to apprehend the attackers.
Security has been heightened around the Sanai area near Jarran Wali Gali (JWG) Poonch in Surankot, with thorough vehicle checks. In a subsequent gunfight, five IAF personnel sustained bullet injuries and were evacuated for medical treatment, with one succumbing later.
The vehicles involved in the attack have been secured within the air base vicinity near Shahsitar. Joint search operations by the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police are ongoing.
