On Thursday, Tamil superstar Vijay unveiled the flag and symbol for his political party, Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam. He hoisted the two-toned maroon and yellow flag, featuring elephants on either side and a peacock surrounded by stars in the center, at the Panaiyur party office. Vijay also announced the release of an official song for the party, composed by S. Thaman with lyrics by V. Vivek. In February, Vijay had declared the formation of Tamizhaga Vetri Kazhagam and his intention to contest the 2026 Tamil Nadu assembly elections. His party did not align with any political bloc in the recent Lok Sabha elections.
During the event, Vijay expressed pride in unveiling the party’s flag and assured that preparations for the party’s first state conference are underway. He emphasized his commitment to working for the development of Tamil Nadu, stating, “Tamil Nadu will be better from now on. Victory is sure.” The flag unveiling will be followed by a large rally in Vikravandi, northern Tamil Nadu, in the last week of September, marking the formal launch of the party. The registration of the party with the Election Commission is nearing completion. Over 300 TVK workers and members of Vijay’s fan clubs attended the event.
