The Supreme Court has ordered the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) to vacate its New Delhi headquarters, situated on property allocated to the Delhi High Court for developing judicial infrastructure.
On Monday, the Supreme Court, noting that the Delhi High Court had been allocated the land for judicial infrastructure, ordered the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) led by Arvind Kejriwal to vacate its Rouse Avenue headquarters in the capital city.
The party has until June 15, 2024, to leave the property, according to the ruling of the highest court.
A bench comprised of Justices JB Pardiwala and Manoj Misra, together with Chief Justice DY Chandrachud, instructed AAP to contact the Land and Development Office (L&DO) for the allocation of suitable land for its offices.
“We would ask the L&DO to review the application and notify us of its decision in a maximum of four weeks,” the bench said, stressing that AAP does not currently have the legal authority to stay on the designated site.
