Triumphant Titles Unveiled at Indian Film Festival of Melbourne: “Jubilee,” “Agra,” and Prestigious Tribute Bestowed upon Karan Johar

The prestigious Indian Film Festival of Melbourne (IFFM) Awards presented the highest honors on Friday to the Telugu period romance film “Sita Ramam,” Vikramaditya Motwane’s series “Jubilee,” and Kanu Behl’s independent feature “Agra.”

Among the victors were Rani Mukerji, the acclaimed Bollywood star, recognized for her roles in “Mrs. Chatterjee Vs Norway,” and actor Mohit Agarwal from “Agra.” The title of Best Film was bestowed upon “Sita Ramam,” while “Agra” earned the distinction of Best Indie Film. Notably, Kannada filmmaker Prithvi Konanur was awarded the honor of Best Director.

The 2023 IFFM Awards not only paid homage to the exceptional accomplishments of the past year but also offered a glimpse into the dynamic and evolving landscape of Indian entertainment. This celebration acknowledged the diverse array of films and content originating from the subcontinent, thereby showcasing its multifaceted nature. The list of winners is shown below:

  • Best Film – “Sita Ramam”
  • Best Performance (MALE) in a Series – Vijay Varma for “Dahaad”
  • Best Performance (FEMALE) in a series – Rajshri Deshpande for “Trial By Fire”
  • Best Series – “Jubilee”
  • Best Short Film – People’s Choice – “Connection Kya Hain” by Nilesh Naik
  • Best Short Film – Australia – “Home” by Mark Russel Bernard
