New Delhi: Ziqra, a woman notorious for her criminal links and bold public persona, is now under police scrutiny following the gruesome murder of 17-year-old Kunal in Delhi’s Seelampur area.
Locally dubbed the ‘Lady Don’, Ziqra is feared for her alleged ties with criminal gangs, frequent display of firearms on social media, and open defiance of the law. Authorities and locals alike say she isn’t just a lone offender—she reportedly has connections to the underworld and once worked as a bouncer for Zoya, wife of the infamous gangster Hashim Baba. Her involvement in various criminal activities, especially those related to firearms, has made her a well-known figure in the area for violent and intimidating behaviour.
Using the Instagram handle “Lady Don”, Ziqra regularly shares videos of her flaunting guns and being surrounded by young men who are believed to be part of her gang. She has multiple cases registered against her and was recently arrested under the Arms Act after uploading a video where she was seen brandishing a pistol. Even during court hearings and in police custody, she reportedly continued posting videos, showcasing her disregard for legal consequences.
In connection to Kunal’s murder, which took place on Thursday evening and is believed to be an act of revenge, residents and the victim’s family have accused Ziqra of being involved. The alleged motive traces back to a previous incident where Kunal’s community members had attacked Ziqra’s brother, Sahil, leading to an attempted murder case. Police are now investigating whether the stabbing was retaliation for that assault.
Although Ziqra has been detained for questioning by Seelampur police’s special unit, her formal arrest has not been confirmed. Authorities are currently working to determine whether she was present at the crime scene. Reportedly, she leads a group of 10–12 boys and is often seen carrying weapons. Her rising influence has sparked fear among locals, with reports suggesting that some Hindu families are considering leaving Seelampur and surrounding areas like Jafrabad, Brahmpuri, Gautampuri, and Chauhan Banger due to escalating threats.
Reacting to the incident, Delhi Chief Minister Rekha Gupta stated she has spoken to the police commissioner and assured that the accused will be caught soon. “An FIR has been registered, and justice will be ensured,” she said.
