SBS Announces its Nominees for the 2023 Daesang (Grand Prize) Award

The 2023 SBS Drama Awards, presented by Seoul Broadcasting System (SBS), are supposed to be held on December 29 at 20:35 (KST) at SBS Prism Tower in Seoul. It is an annual awards ceremony held by SBS to celebrate the Korean dramas and their achievements that have been aired on its network. Seoul Broadcasting System is one of the leading television and radio broadcasters in South Korea, along with MBC and KBC. For this year’s award ceremony, Shin Dong-yup and Kim Yoo-jung will be reprising their roles as hosts.
Fans from all around the world wait for this award ceremony to vote for their favorite actor or drama. One of the most popular awards on this show is the “Daesang (Grand Prize) Award,” which is the highest honor of the ceremony and is awarded to the best actor or actress of the year. Last year, Kim Nam-gil received this award for his famous drama, “Through the Darkness.” This year’s list of nominees for this award was released by SBS on December 27.
The first actor on this list is Lee Je Hoon, who has been nominated for his role as Kim Do-gi in the mini-web series “Taxi Driver 2.” This drama managed to set the record for the highest viewership ratings of any miniseries in 2023. Several incidents in the series have been inspired by actual, real-life heinous crimes that have been committed in Korea. The series received several praises from viewers for its performances, storylines, and, notably, Lee Je Koon’s acting capabilities as the lead star. His character, Kim Do-gi, is a Korean Military Academy graduate who works as a taxi driver for Rainbow Taxi Company. The company offers a “revenge call” service to its clients who have been wronged, and Kim Do-gi helps them take revenge.
The next nominee on this list is actor Han Suk Kyu, who reprised his role as Teacher Kim Sa-bu in the drama “Dr. Romantic 3.” In the drama, we can find him effortlessly playing the role of a top-class surgeon at the Doldam Hospital Regional Trauma Center. His role as a senior surgeon who has to lead a team of doctors and has to make difficult decisions in moments of life and death has managed to captivate viewers all over the world.
Joining them on the nominee list is actress Kim Tae Ri, who gave the audience goosebumps with her performance as a possessed woman in the Korean horror drama “Revenant.” She plays the role of Gu San-yeong, a public prosecutor whose life takes a cruel turn after she is possessed by a demonic entity. The actress has received praise from all over the world for her fine control over her expressions to showcase the battle her character is fighting with the spirit within her.
The final actor on this year’s list of Daesang nominees is Kim Rae Won for his role as Officer Jin Ho-gae in the series “The First Responders 2.” It tells the story of members of the police force, the fire department, and the National Forensic Team who are willing to go all the way along in the face of unpredicted events to protect their city. In the series, Rae-won has successfully delivered his acting chops as a police detective team inspector and shocked the audience with his transformation in this second season.
All four dramas have received great acclaim and appreciation from the audience. The actors from the respective dramas have also received a great deal of love from the viewers.
