Ms. R.V. Honeyshya Raj Explaining Judicial Clerkship at Campus Law Centre
University of Delhi: The Placement Assistance Council (PAC) of Campus Law Centre (CLC), of the University of Delhi, organised a mentorship programme titled “Behind the Bench: Why a Judicial Clerkship is the Smartest First Step in Law” on Monday, October 13, 2025. The programme aimed to guide budding legal professionals through the nuances, opportunities, and experiences that come with judicial clerkships – a desirable career start for many law graduates.
Campus Law Centre hosted Ms R.V. Honeyshya Raj, a judicial law clerk to the Honourable Justice R. Mahadevan of the Supreme Court of India and author of “The Eyes of Justitia”. An alumna of CLC’s batch of 2022, Ms Raj shared her journey from law school to clerking at the nation’s apex court and provided valuable insights into the world of judicial clerkships, the importance of case material, and how young law graduates can build a strong foundation by joining as judicial clerks.
Addressing the session in the CLC seminar hall, Ms Raj emphasised that judicial clerkships provide unparalleled experience of the inner workings of the judiciary. She elaborated on how clerks assist judges with legal research, case preparation, and drafting—experiences that significantly strengthen analytical and research skills.
The interactive session also provided practical advice to law students on how to apply for clerkships, build a strong academic profile, and develop clarity in legal reasoning. Attendees also engaged in a lively question-and-answer session, discussing real-world challenges and professional ethics in the judiciary.
The event concluded in the presence of the teacher convenor Dr. Cholaraja M. and other faculty member, Prof. Raman Mittal and Dr. Rahul Kumar, with an encouraging message from the PAC team, highlighting the importance of mentorship and experiential learning for students preparing to enter the legal profession.
Through these initiatives, the Placement Assistance Council continues its mission to bridge the gap between legal education and practice and empower students to explore diverse opportunities in the field of law.
