In a significant development in the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict, Ukrainian forces in the southeastern province of Zaporizhia have seen notable progress over 72 hours, as their counteroffensive gains momentum.

Russian President Vladimir Putin is scheduled to meet his Turkish counterpart in the Black Sea resort of Sochi on Monday. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russia has allowed diplomats at the Copenhagen embassy.

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy says there cannot be sustainable peace in Ukraine. The White House’s National Security Council Spokesperson, John Kirby, said, speaking during a conference call with reporters that Ukraine is actively strategizing on how to build upon its recent successes. Kirby was quick to acknowledge the challenges that lie ahead, stating that there is an awareness that tough battles still await as they endeavor to push further south.

Speaking to Reuters, Mykhailo Podolyak, a spokesperson for the Ukrainian government, asserted that the territory of the Russian Federation and the frequency of attacks will continue to increase, adding an air of uncertainty to the ongoing conflict.

A noteworthy aspect of the conflict has been Russia’s utilization of one-way drones as a cost-effective alternative to traditional missiles. These drones pose unique challenges to air defense systems, making interception a complex and costly endeavor.

It is worth noting that Russian forces have, thus far, achieved only partial control over four provinces in southeastern Ukraine. The dynamics of the conflict remain fluid, and the world watches with anticipation for any further developments in this critical international situation.
