RM of BTS: From Underground Rapper to Global Sensation, Announced his 2nd Solo Album

RM, the 29-year-old South Korean singer, rapper, lyricist, and record producer, has made waves in the music industry, signed under HYBE.
Born Kim Namjoon on December 12, 1994, in Dongjak-gu, Seoul, South Korea, RM catapulted to fame when he debuted as the leader of BTS on June 13, 2013.
Before his debut, he was a well-known underground rapper known as “Runch Randa”.
BTS is derived from the name BANGTAN BOYS (Bangtan Seonyondan). A South Korean boy band consisting of Kim Namjoon (leader, main rapper), Kim Seokjin (the oldest member, vocalist, visual), Min Yoongi (lead rapper), Jung Hoeseok (main dancer, rapper), Park Jimin (lead vocalist, lead dancer), Kim Taehyung (vocalist, actor), and Jeon Jungkook (maknae, main vocalist, dancer, center).
The group gained international acclaim starting in late 2016, selling 1.6 million album copies and topping the US Digital Songs Chart with their “Wings” album.
Some of their countless awards include: Artist of the Year at the American Music Awards, MTV Europe Music Awards for Best Song, MTV Video Music Award for Best Choreography, Golden Disc Awards, MAMA Awards, Seoul Music Awards Daesang Award, and Seoul Music Awards Bonsang Award.
He contributed to writing many songs: Boy in Luv, Boy With Luv, Boyz With Fun, Airplane Part 2, Blood Sweat & Tears, Closer, Dionysus, Butter, Butterfly, Ddaeng, Dimple, TXT’s “I Know I Love You,” and so on. Their most popular song is “Dynamite,” which has 1 billion streams on YouTube.
His debut solo album, “Indigo,” reached number 71 on the Billboard 200 chart. He made history by becoming the first Korean solo artist to appear on the Billboard 200 chart for four consecutive weeks.
The song “Indigo” was released on December 2, 2022. Tracks on the album include “YUN” (featuring Erykah Badu), “STILL LIFE” (featuring Anderson Paak), “ALL DAY” (featuring Tabo), “FORGETFUL” (featuring Kim Sa-WOL), “CLOSER” (featuring Paul Blanco and Mahalia), “CHANGE PT.2,” “Lonely,” “Hectic” (featuring Colede), “WILD FLOWER” (featuring YouJEEN), and “NO.2” (featuring Park Ji-Yoon).
Along with the other members of BTS, he will be serving his mandatory military service, and this year he will release his second solo album.
Pre-orders for the record will open on Friday, April 26, and run through Thursday, May 23, 2024. On May 24, “Right Place, Wrong Person” will be released. There are eleven tracks on the album. The solo album, according to Weverse, touches on a few universal emotions that we have all experienced at some point.
