Rapid Rail Service Between Delhi-NCR and Meerut Starts Today
The Rapid Rail will now cover a 42 km distance, an increase from its previous operation across 8 stations spanning 34 km. The full length of the Delhi-Meerut RRTS corridor is 82 km.

The long-awaited Rapid Rail service is set to begin today, with the Namo Bharat train starting its journey on August 18 at 2 pm, running from Ghaziabad to Meerut. According to the National Capital Region Transport Corporation (NCRTC), passengers will now be able to travel from NCR to Meerut via the Meerut South RRTS station starting Sunday.
NCRTC announced that a 42-km section of the 82-km long Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) will become operational at 2 pm on Sunday. Officials stated that the opening of these eight new stretches will offer significant relief to passengers. The fare for standard coach travel between Sahibabad and Meerut South will be Rs 110, while the premium coach fare will be Rs 220. The 42-km stretch includes 9 stops from Sahibabad in Ghaziabad to Meerut South, with Modinagar North as the second-last stop. The entire Delhi-Meerut corridor will eventually have 25 stations, with completion targeted by June 2025. Previously, the train was operational across 8 stations on a 34-km section. With the addition of 9 stations, the line will now extend an additional 8 km.
