The Maharashtra Cyber Department has filed an FIR in Mumbai against podcaster Ranveer Allahbadia, comedian Samay Raina, and other artists following a wave of public outrage over alleged obscene content on the YouTube show India’s Got Latent. This comes a day after the Assam Police registered a case against Allahbadia for his controversial remarks.
According to a police official cited by PTI, the cyber department has also begun issuing summonses to around 30 guests who have appeared on the show since its first episode. The suo motu FIR was lodged after Allahbadia’s offensive comments sparked widespread backlash. The case has been registered under relevant sections of the IT Act, and authorities have requested the removal of all 18 episodes of the comedy show.
The cyber department’s investigation revealed that participants, including show judges and guests, were involved in using “vulgar and obscene” language. Following Allahbadia’s remarks, multiple complaints were filed in Mumbai, seeking action against him and other social media personalities associated with the show, such as Apoorva Mukhija and Samay Raina, over alleged abusive language.
Content creators Ashish Chanchlani, Jaspreet Singh, and Apoorva Mukhija, along with Ranveer Allahbadia, had featured in one of the episodes of Samay Raina’s show.
